The Relationship Between Negative Life Events And Suicide Ideation Among College Students:a Moderate Mediation Model

Suicide has become a very important public issue.Suicide have a negative effect on the family,relatives and friends,as well as the stability and the development of society.Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students.Suicidal ideation is a risk factor and an inevitable stage of suicidal behavior.Suicidal ideation is a significant stage that we cannot overlook in the process of researching suicidal behaviors.Therefore,it is necessary to focus on the research of suicidal ideation.This study included two sub-studies.College students in Tianjin city were sampled(65 males;188 females)and the data was obtained using questionnaire.The results were analyzed using SPSS.The first sub-study aimed to explore the gender and the grade difference of suicidal ideation,and the predictive effects of related factors on suicidal ideation.The second sub-study was to explore the mediating effect of the impulsive trait on the relationship between negative life events and suicidal ideation,and the moderating effect of social support on the relationship between impulsive trait and suicidal ideation.The results was as following:1.The difference of the suicidal ideation between men and women was not statistically significant.2.The difference of the suicidal ideation among the grades was not statistically significant.3.The predictive effects of negative life events,impulsive traits and social support on suicidal ideation were statistically significant.4.The mediating effect of impulsive traits on the relationship of negative life events and suicidal ideation was statistically significant.5.The moderating effect of social support on the relationship of impulsive traits and suicidal ideation was statistically significant.
