In Japanese art,the image of the paintings which are usually centered on the female,can be called "beauty painting".The same with Chinese “portrait of ladies”,both scholars and poets at that time are very enthusiastic about the beauty paintings,which emerged in an endless stream in each period.To explore its unique aesthetic features by investigating and analyzing the beauty of different period the picture.Japanese Ukiyoe art is the representative of traditional Japanese folk art and it is also a genuine gem.This paper analyzes the Ukiyoe paintings of Edo period through six parts: the first part is the introduction,the author analyzes the research background briefly to illustrate the significance that the research of Ukiyoe beauty painting art has brought,also expounds the innovation of the study.The second part summarizes the origin and background of Ukiyoe art,the Japanese art has distinctive characteristics,and the Ukiyoe art can express the aesthetic view of the Japanese nation.The Ukiyoe of Edo period is a more important process from the beginning to the peak,which fully embodies the aesthetic spirit of the Japanese nation.Third part is to sum up the unique aesthetic characteristics of edo period,through analyzes the painting style and beauty image from Ukiyoe representative of beauty painting masters,that came from different period of Edo.The fourth part is to study Ukiyoe painting art language in Edo period,to summarize the lines,color and composition of beauty painting on its aesthetic characteristics in three aspects.The fifth part is to study the connection between the Edo period Ukiyoe aesthetic characteristics and cultural connotation,to expound the aesthetic features embodied in Ukiyoe art with the culture perspective.The last part is a summary of the full text,and a brief description of the modern art,which drawing lessons from traditional beauty paintings.The author expresses that we should inherit the traditional art critically adhere to pursue the beauty and stick to ourselves mind.
