The Influence Of Sensation Seeking On Driver's Risk Perception Under Different Road Conditions

In the course of driving,the risk perception is the subjective experience of the driver in the traffic situation.It has a great impact on whether the driver can accurately and quickly identify the risks in the driving environment and the hidden dangers.In this study,we investigated the sensation seeking in personality traits,The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of driver's sensation seeking on risk perception.The study is divided into two parts as follows:Study 1:Effect of sensation seeking on driver's risk perception under simple road conditions.Using 2(sensation seeking level: high,low)×2(driving experience: novice driver,skilled driver)×2(hazard type: obvious danger,hidden danger)of the mixed experimental design of the three factors.The sensation seeking and driving experience is the design of the test room,Risk type is designed within the subject.The measurement of driver's risk perception is based on the risk perception test of eye tracker,Using a simple road traffic video as experimental materials,Video length in 5 to 10 seconds,Asked the subjects to see the video in the stimulus point of the mouse.The indexes were time to frist fixation,visit duration,visit count,total visit duration and reaction time.Study 2:The effect of sensation seeking on driver's risk perception under complex conditions.In addition to the experimental materials for the use of complex road traffic video,the purpose of the study,the method of equivalent research 1.Through the above two studies,the main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Sensation seeking has a significant effect on the level of risk perception under the simple road condition.The risk perception of high sensation seeking drivers was higher than that of low perceived drivers.Under the simple road condition,the dangerous type has the remarkable influence to the driver's risk perception level,The level of perceived risk of the driver was significantly higher than that of the hidden danger.(2)There is an interaction between sensation seeking and driving experience under simple road conditions.High sensation seeking drivers were more aware of the risk of significant risk.Low perceived drivers were more likely to be aware of the hidden dangers.(3)Under complex traffic conditions,sensation seeking has a significant impact on the level of perceived risk.The risk perception of high sensation seeking drivers was higher than that of low perceived drivers.Under the complex road conditions,the risk type has a significant impact on the driver's risk perception.The level of perceived risk of the driver was significantly higher than that of the hidden danger.(4)There is an interaction between sensation seeking,driving experience and risk type under complex road conditions.Skilled drivers with high sensation seeking had higher levels of perceived risk of hidden danger.(5)Combined with the two kinds of road conditions,sensation seeking has a significant impact on the level of perceived risk.The risk type has a significant impact on the driver's risk perception.But the driving experience has a significant impact on the driver's level of perceived risk only under complex road conditions.
