The Research On The Steamship Transportation And The Regional Economic Linkage Between Modern Zhejiang Coastal Area(1877-1937)

Zhejiang is located in the southeast coast of China,a unique geographical location and socio-economic conditions,so that it has always been more developed water transport.In modern times,Ningbo,Wenzhou and other places have set up foreign trade ports.Modern transport-the ship began to enter the coastal areas of Zhejiang,the region's economic linkage had a profound impact.Prior to this,although Zhejiang is located in the coastal areas,but due to self-sufficiency of the natural economy and the "foreign trade forbidden" policy,Zhejiang maritime development has been limited.Until the entry of ships,Zhejiang coastal areas have more opportunities for external development.With the development of Hu Yong line,Wen Hu line,Wen Yong line,Ningbo,Dinghai,Haimen line and Wen Jiao line,greatly increasing the economic ties between the coastal areas of Zhejiang.The increase in interaction between these regions has also enabled Shanghai to have a wider range of economic radiation,and the economic linkage of the region has facilitated the sale of imported goods and the collection of exported goods in Shanghai.At the same time,the material resources,population,capital,information and other economic factors in the coastal areas of Zhejiang flows,making regional economic cooperation to strengthen.However,the development of coastal areas in Zhejiang should also be observed imbalance.Such as the Wenzhou,its economic hinterland is still small.After being involved in the wave of modernization,the coastal modernization of Zhejiang coastal areas and its impact on the socio-economic development is representative.The rapid development of modern ship shipping,but did not completely replace the traditional means of transport.Especially in the mutual competition at the same time there are complementary aspects.The reconstruction of modern transportation system is a more complicated development process than imagined.
