An extremely fruitful and profound Chinese cultural consensus has been inherited from generation to generation throughout its thousands of years of history,which meanwhile has also been significantly influencing Chinese game industry.Marketing dominant Swordsman games as well as the Immortal Hero games are nothing but originating from the ideas of Chinese WUXIA cultural and Taoism doctrine respectively.For any type of games that are under Chinese cultural background,character model is with no doubt the key point and the most important factor consisting the whole game.A successful character model can not only impress the game players,gaining enjoyments,but also make the game more energetic.The main focus of the present thesis is combining the plastic arts with character modeling in Swordsman games,shaping up the character models in Swordsman game under the category of “ consciousness ”,“morphology”,”chromatology” and “practice”,where consciousness means the mentality,philosophy,imagination and emotional focus during the creating period of the related character models;morphology and chromatology are the physique and colors used in those model.After logically organizing thefactors of consciousness,morphology and chromatology,it can make some practical effects onto the character models in Swordsman games.In the present thesis,we have summarized what aesthetical factors from various cultural backgrounds are needed when creating character models in Swordsman games and how these factors affect the character models specifically.Furthermore,instructed by these conclusions we have also explored some brand new game character models under Chinese cultural features which can also fit the globalization development.Thus,we hope to raise some attentions on Chinese game aesthetics and make some contribution to the theory and methodology to study the game aesthetics.
