This paper studies the influence of learning strategies on Chinese learning through the case study of Chinese secondary school students studying at the Confucius Institute in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. As we all know, learning strategies play an important role in second language acquisition. Based on the well-known Oxford Language Learning Strategy Inventory, the study investigated the learning strategies used by students in Las Palmas, as well as the relationship between their Chinese proficiency and their learning strategies. In order to improve students' learning ability in Chinese this research aims to understand the most commonly used learning strategies of Chinese secondary school students and the impact of different learning strategies on learning achievement. At the same time, the study can also provide some teaching suggestions for teachers, so that teachers can better play a role in student language learning strategies. This thesis is divided into five parts; the structure is as follows:The first chapter is an introduction. This part mainly presents the purpose and significance of the topic, as well as the introduction of the research objectives and research methods. The second chapter gives a theoretical framework for the study. This section firstly outlines the study of learning strategies and their importance. There follows an explanation of the structure of the second language learning strategies and the Oxford language learning strategies used in this article and the introduction of the SILL inventory. Then through the development of the Confucius Institute in the world, the development of the Confucius Institute in Spain, especially in Las Palmas Confucius Institute,is a brief introduction to the learning situation of learners of Chinese outside of China. Finally, this part analyses the current situation of Spanish-speaking Chinese learners. The third chapter is the research design. Included here are the research hypothesis, research objectives, research tools and the research implementation processes. The fourth chapter is the analysis of the results and analysis of students' usage of learning strategies. On the basis of our investigation, we analyse the correlation between the measured variables. The fifth chapter is the conclusion and suggestions for further work and advice for educators. In this part, according to the influence of learning strategies on learning outcomes, suggestions are made to improve students' Chinese learning ability, and some suggestions are put forward for those teaching Chinese as a foreign language.SILL Inventory results shows that, according to the method proposed by Oxford, the overall average frequency of students' language learning strategies is medium "sometimes used". Results show that in the surveyed students, compensation strategies are the most commonly used, followed by social strategies, and then, with almost the same frequency of use, memory strategies, cognitive strategies and metacognitive strategies, and finally affective strategies are used the least. The data on the students involved in the study showed that for the overall average frequency there was no "always or almost always used"strategies and no "usually used" strategies (High frequency), and no "never or almost nerver used" strategies (Low frequency). This shows that, on the whole, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University Confucius Institute students use different learning strategies to varying degrees. However, when looking at individual students rather than the average, a complete range of frequencies was observed. With regard to gender, the overall frequency of Chinese learning strategies for all male and female students involved in this study was almost the same as the average. In addition, through the analysis of the relationship between the variables measured (personal information, learning strategies used, YCT test score results), we found that there was no significant correlation. It is worth mentioning that the analysis of differences in the study of the initial design variables does not differentiate between students from the two different schools, but during the data analysis process we found that there were significant differences in both learning strategies used and YCT test results. It was therefore necessary to analyse the schools individually as well as the whole sample together. Finally, in order to check the reliability of the conclusion of the study, our results were compared to related research and analysed. To achieve a contrast,we refer to research on other native Spanish speakers, learning Chinese.
