Critical discourse analysis is viewed as a multidimensional and multidisciplinary approach to discourse analysis,aiming at revealing ideologies,power relations and inequality behind language utterance.Critical discourse analysis on international news especially conducted through the contrastive analysis due to its universality and topicality has been received a lot of attentions from researchers.This paper under the framework of Fairclough's three-dimensional mode and corpus linguistics researches conducts the combining quantitative and qualitative research on the topic of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank(AIIB)in China Daily and The New York Times,which aims at exploring the respective lexical preference,emotional stances and different ideologies behind the same topic through a comparative analysis.These intentions get expressed through three detailed research questions,the most frequently used words and key words in two corpora,presenting concordance lines and collocation of these words and attempting at describing social meaning and ideological implications behind lexical choice.The research data comes from authoritative news agencies China Daily and The New York Times during the period from 24 th October 2014 to 25 th December 2015.Due to the objective concern,the topic and contents from two newspapers are equally matched and put into two corpora then.This study is conducted in description,interpretation and explanation three dimensions and actually operated and enlightened by corpus research methods,showing as statistics mainly.In the description stage,frequent nouns and adjectives as well as key words are listed,followed by the presentation of their concordance lines and collocations.These lexical features are assumed to have ideological implication and emotional orientation,the disclose analysis then belongs to the content of the second interpretation stage.The last stage of explanation enriches the background introduction of this topic in terms of economy,politician and ideology and proves the potential connection between language property's interpretation and the social reality explanation.Findings are concluded as the reality that both China and US new media employ different discursive strategies to construct and interpret their respective stances and ideologies.Linguistic devices like frequent words and key words after selective adoption reveal that China and US have different stances and focuses.The US emphasizes more political sense like allies' choices,international relationship and world order,while China stresses economic factors and scientific operation towards the bank.Concordance and collocations analysis demonstrates the subjective emotions and hidden ideologies lately.The concordance research towards the topic words finds that the major suspicious and deniable attitudes towards the bank from US and majority positive expression for the bank in Chinese media.Hidden ideologies are uncovered through micro collocation choices and macro collocational network.The America indicates that the bank is China-control financial tool aiming at rivaling existed ones and enhancing regional leadership even challenging world economic order.For Chinese media,the bank is described as an open multilateral financial institution that is brand new to fulfill infrastructure needs and promote economic integration.The highest operational standards and the equal member status are also indicated.The research significance mainly resides in two respects.Apparently,as a time-effective and wide-influenced international topic,critical analysis on the discourse about Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank under the comparative analysis has enriched the research area and enhanced the topic understanding.Moreover,the corpus research method adopting wordlist,key words,concordance,collocations and the eventual collocation network is a brand new exploration in terms of broadening CDA research methodology by merely relaying on the statistics talking.
