This is a translation project report of Attracting Capital for Railway Development in China, which is an economically informative report commissioned by the World Bank and published in December,2015 by a team from the World Bank Group, led by Martha Lawrence and Gerald Ollivie. This report selects the five chapters from the original report, respectively studying and analyzing typically relevant examples about differently effective mechanisms adopted by public and private sectors to attract capital for railway development in four countries including China,France,Japan and United Kingdom, combining of their own conditions. This translation report is made up of four chapters. The first chapter introduces the translation task by stating its background and significance. The second chapter presents the introduction of the source text, including the authors, main contents as well as the analysis. The third chapter focuses on the communicative translation theory as the cornerstone of the report, making the prediction of translation difficulty and seeking for the very method through analyzing the source text precisely. The last chapter makes a summary and distills experience to be learned, pointing out the problems to be solved. In the process of the entire translation, the translator adopts the translation methods based on the text type, namely the communicative translation strategy promoted by Newmark, renowned translation theorist in Britain. The translation techniques contain conversion of parts of speech, amplification and omission, sequence and restructuring based in this theory.
