Wang Zengqi And The "Model Operas" During The "Cultural Revolution"

Wang Zengqi is well known by the world,mostly for his novels,proses,essay creations,academic researches are mostly focus on these.His literary activities is regarded as a blank and interruption from 1950 s to 1980 s.However,this period is vital important in Wang Zengqi's personal experience and literary creation,Wang Zengqi played an important position in the "model opera",he had his own thinking and exploration in drama creation,and he had great writing skills,left lots of incredible words and sentences.At the same time,the creation of the "model opera" made him drawn into the vortex of politics in the "Cultural Revolution" period,which made him experience several ups and downs in his life.Although he avoided persecution during the "Cultural Revolution",he suffered a long time scrutiny after "Cultural Revolution".There are three chapters in this article.The first chapter describes Wang Zengqi's personal experience and literary activities during the period of the "Cultural Revolution",I divide his experience into four stages,each stage starts with a turning point in his life,and these turnings are closely related with the "model opera".At the same time,combined with the creation of the “model opera”,Wang Zengqi visited all through the country with the Beijing Opera Troupe,to “experience the life”,which is an important experience of him during the "Cultural Revolution" period.The second chapter elucidate the content of Wang Zengqi's “model opera " creation :?Shajiabang? and ?Cuckoo mountain?.Wang Zengqi devoted a lot of effort in the preparation of the script,the creation of the so-called " ten years sword ",from the birth of the Peking opera script to the final set has undergone lots of change,in this time it also reflect the variation of time and politics.The third chapter focuses on Wang Zengqi's mentality analysis during the period of the " Cultural Revolution ".It is reasonable of Wang Zengqi to be called the " scholar ",because Wang Zengqi has the style of old time literati,whether it is his behavior,or articles,Wang Zengqi had a strong Confucian style.In addition,Wang Zengqi showed the spirit of Confucianism during the " Cultural Revolution ",and its spirit does not only manifested gentle and honest,but also shows his inner peace and political alienation.Moreover,Wang Zengqi's enjoying to participate in the “model opera" as well as the gratitude of Jiang Qing's affection in the period of the "Cultural Revolution",reflects the time in his inner projection,and showing the inner choice of him.
