Among the contemporary authors, Wang Zengqi is special and imposing. He started to write novels in the 1940s. His early works enjoyed a great popularity and was praised as the"the amalgamation of Beijing-genre modernism". Thereafter, his composition was intermittent. In 1980s, he came back to the literary world with a literature creation that is totally different from the novel narrative style. This injected a pool of refreshing spring into the literature inrush which is full of"bruise"and"reflection". This speculative act has initiated commotions in the literary world and has ignited an increasingly heated research on Wang Zengqi ever since 1990s.The author of this thesis believes that the steady and wide-scoped readership and persistent research interest of Wang Zengqi's novels are closely related to the unique artistic charm of his works. Hence, this thesis focuses on Wang Zengqi's novel creation during the 1980s and 1990s and carries out a preliminary study on the stylistic features of Wang Zengqi's works through the analysis of the language and narrative skills in the novel. Finally, this thesis summarizes the literary style and aesthetic conception of Wang Zengqi's works by focusing on the author's aesthetic pursuit and personal spirit conveyed by the text discourse.
