Study On The Chengdu CPC Organizations During The Period Of The Chinese Resistance War Against The Japanese Aggression(1937-1945)

After the May 4th movement,the Marxist ideology spread rapidly in Chengdu.In October 1923,some early communists,such as Wang Youmu,established the party group in Chengdu,and the number of party members increased gradually.After the March 31 st Massacre in Chongqing in 1927 and the February 16 th Incident in Chengdu in 1928,the Chinese Communist Party group and the Youth League organizations in Chengdu were damaged by the soldiers in Sichuan.The party organizations were forced to carry out activities in a hidden way.After the December 9th Movement in 1935,the Chinese Communist Party organization in Chengdu gradually came to life.A group of the communists led by Zhang Shushi,the Chengdu Special Branch Committee of the Communist Party of China,the Chinese National Liberation Pioneer(Chengdu),and other groups or organizations,actively advocated the resistance against the Japanese aggression and the national salvation,and achieved a great response in Chengdu.When the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out at a full scale,the Kuomintang-Communist cooperation against the Japanese aggression was taken shape,Sichuan once again became the base area of the Anti-Japanese national renaissance.Thus,the Chengdu party organizations of the Communist Party of China(CPC)quickly resumed their strength.To be specific,many Anti-Japanese groups,higher-education institutions and high schools established their party branches,with a rising number of party members,among which the student party members played an increasingly significant role.Meanwhile,the CPC-led movement for the Anti-Japanese national renaissance also developed at its full swing.The Kuomintang,however,also developed its own organizations at the same time.Consequently,there inevitably emerged some conflicts between the CPC and theKuomintang.In particular,the Chengdu Rice Riot happened in 1940,during which the Kuomintang launched severe strikes against the CPC and seriously damaged the CPC party organizations.Subsequently,by firmly upholding the policy of Have Well-Selected Cadres Working Underground for a Long Period,Accumulate Strength and Bide Time,the Chengdu CPC party organizations carried out appropriate reforms,transferred the backbone party members and actively reserved the backing forces.In1944,the CPC put forward the political notion of Coalition Government,which won the full support of the democratic parties and once again boosted the rear constitutional movement to the large scale.Some peripheral CPC organizations,such as the Chengdu Democratic Youth Council,initiated various democratic movements against the Japanese aggression and attained the victory in the Chengdu Shili High School Incident.To this end,the CPC has made breakthrough in its strength and the important forces have been laid for the eventual triumph of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.It can be perceived that Chengdu is as important as Chongqing,Kunming and other Anti-Japanese rear areas,and the change of the CPC organizations in Chengdu clearly shows the cooperation between the Chinese Communist Party and Kuomintang.The CPC organizations in Chengdu suffered many hardships,but they were committed to the faith,constantly built up their strength,seized all the opportunities,and finally made a great breakthrough.They also made an important contribution to the triumph of the Chinese Resistance War against the Japanese Aggression,and laid a solid foundation for the development of the Chinese Communist Party in Sichuan.
