As one of the most significant battlefields and rear areas of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression,Yunnan plays an inalienable role for the final victory of the War in human history. In recent years,an increasing number of people from both home and abroad have come back to Yunnan to explore and recall that miserable but unforgettable memory that is deeply rooted in people's heart. The history of Yunnan in the War against Japanese Aggression,as a precious treasure, has won tremendous popularity among the public.Under the guidance of her supervisor, the translator chose this period of history as the source text of her translation task.It aims to make the history better known to the younger generation and help more people to understand how tough and unstoppable Yunnan people fought for freedom and peace. It gives her belief that it can not only help spread a kind of positive energy of national heroism, but also trigger the patriotism spirit among the younger generation and remind us of remembering that phase of history.Only through looking back at the history can we expect a better future. So translating the book from Chinese to English is of great importance. The skopos theory was firstly proposed by Hans Vemeer.According to the theory, there is always a purpose when someone chooses something for his/her translation. The translator should bear in mind that the translated text is supposed to be in line with the background of the target readers, like knowledge, expectation and value for a specific purpose.Based on the theory, some useful translation strategies and techniques are also introduced and used in her translation process, such as literal translation, conversion, omission and combination. This report is composed of two sections. The first section is the translation script. The second section is the translation report which is further comprised of four parts. The first part is an overall introduction to the translation task. The second part gives a brief introduction to the translation process. The third part comes to the main body of the report, and it presents dozens of examples to illustrate the translation theory and techniques used in her translation. In the fourth part the translator recalls the whole process and reflects on her gains and losses of translation. The report has already equipped her with an abundance of knowledge and fostered her ability of using English as a foreign language.More importantly,it is hoped that this report will guide her in her future translation work and offer a reference for those who are concerned with translation of historical contexts at large.
