Wang Qiao's Shang Shu Ri Ji is the important work of the study on Shang Shu in Ming dynasty. The six kinds of the editions were surveyed including Yu Mingzhao's block-printed edition in the 10 th year of Wanli,Peng Sui's block-printed edition in the23 th year of Wanli,Cai Lishen's block-printed edition in the 25 th year of Wanli,Wang Xichen's block-printed edition in Wanli,Zhuang Jiguang's block-printed edition in the5 th year of Chongzhen and the edition of Si Ku Quan Shu.And,the first one is completely differed from other editions in style and context, which can be alone regarded as one edition system. The other edition system is led by Peng's edition.Compared Yu's edition as the representative of the former system with Peng's edition as the representative of the latter system,we can discover the part process of Wang Qiao revising Shang Shu Ri Ji,and find the author's increasingly mellow insight on the study of Shang Shu and the writing motivation which lays more attention to the concern about realty than the textual explanation.Cai's edition as the re-engraved of Peng's edition, which has corrected the faults of Peng's edition, has the least mistakes and may be the best edition to being organized.Si Ku's edition has many mistakes and the causes of the errors are complicated, especially the tampering usually make the text lose its original meaning because of political reasons, which so should be used with caution. The features of Shang Shu Ri Ji not only possess the part absorbed from the prior experience, for example, the emphasis on explanation and meaning as well as certification, the principle of leaving the questions open, but also are influenced by the trend of the thought in Ming dynasty and the social situation in the late Ming dynasty, which contain the focus on the mental effort and the overlook of the limit of the scripture to be close to the realty with the reference to the history.Correspondingly, the two kinds of viewpoints can be drawn from the thoughts of Shang Shu Ri Ji that contain heart-centered and reverence-oriented mental effort and the practical thought of contributing to the world by virtue of Confucian classic. If Wang Qiao and his work are surveyed through the macroscopic scales of academic and ideological history as well asthe ethos of the middle and later Ming dynasty, the Han study's achievements of Shang Shu Ri Ji certainly benefit from the gradual changing atmosphere of study;after the recognition of the destruction to the social soul from the madness of conscientious knowledge,Wang Qiao pays attention to the individual subjectivity and activity during the moral cultivation when he more focuses on the theory of the reverence-oriented effort, which accords with the overall trend to inward of Ming dynasty's thought;at the same time, when being aware of the dangerous situation of the state,as an official and scholar,he draws from the past and bases on the present, and not only stresses the social moral regulation, but advocates promoting the revolution and improvement of national institutional mechanism with practical quality and political skills. Therefore,Wang Qiao and his work may be said to be the individual and concrete case concerning the change and arrangement of the knowledge of Han-Song,Zhu-Wang and Dao-Qi in the middle and late Ming dynasty.
