The nasal[m]?[n]?[?]of Guangzhou dialect not only as nasal consonant but as nasal ending. In this paper,we using Nasometer ?6400 and Praat to study the acoustic features of nasal consonant and nasal ending and nasalized vowels as well as two-syllable words[-N1,N2-]in Guangzhou dialect. The contents of this paper:(1)Analyse acoustic characteristics of pure nasal and nasal consonant followed by vowels.(2)Analyse acoustic characteristics of vowels in CVN/NVC/NVN/NV syllables, and compared with the oral vowels, then summarize the rules of nasalized vowels in Guangzhou dialect.(3)Analyse acoustic characteristics of nasal ending, and explored the relationship between the nasal ending weakening and vowel tongue.(4)We explored the coarticulation of two-syllable words[-N1,N2-],and explored the phenomena and causes of nasal weakening or shedding. The results of this paper:(1)There are sharp distinction between nasal consonant and nasal ending in the aspects of formants, duration, energy, nasalance. These four parameters showed that nasal ending significantly weakened, but without nasal coda losing. The duration of nasal consonant and nasal ending is not stable and easily affected by vowel and Entering Endings.(2)The influence factor of nasal ending weakening in Guangzhou dialect:There are pronunciation parts and methods of nasal ending and consonant.Vowel's duration and tongue in the syllable pronunciation.(3)There are great difference between nasalized vowels and oral vowels in the aspects of formants, nasalance.Acoustic space significantly reduced after the vowel is nasalized, which the pronunciation part will move backwards or upward. The nasalance of vowels is in direct proportion to the front and back of vowel's tongue. There are tiny differences between long vowels and short vowels in the aspects of formants, energy, and nasalance.(4)The following syllable consonant[-N2]has greater influence on the preceding syllable nasal ending[N1-]of two-syllable words, which prone to reverse co articulation.
