The relationship between emotion and decision-making is the research hotspot in the field of modern psychology.Although many studies on the impact of positive emotions on decision-making are controversial, they still give us a lot of inspiration.Researchers began to add motivation factor into the scope of the study of emotions since Gable and Harmon-Jones.Many studies started to re-explore the effects of emotion on cognitive activities based on the motivational dimensional model of affect(Gable & Harmon-Jones,2008 a,2010b,2010c).Based on this model, the present study tried to investigate the influence of approach-motivated positive affect on decision-making in sport via the carrier of badminton back court shot and in which executive function was included. The aim of the present study was to reveal the role of approach-motivated positive affect on decision-making in sport.Study 1 adopted 3(approach-motivated positive affect)× 2(decision-making type)mixed design to investigate the effect of approach-motivated positive affect on decision-making.The results showed that approach-motivated positive affect had an significant effect on decision-making,especially on cognitive decision making.Participants’ decision making performance decreased with the rise of approaching motivation.Study 2 consists of three experiments.Study 2a adopted 2(approach-motivated positive affect)× 2(inhibition)between subject design to explore the effect of approach-motivated positive affect and inhibition function on decision-making.The results indicated that approach-motivated positive affect and inhibition had significant effects on decision-making.Participants with better inhibition function tended to maintain a higher correct rate in cognitive decision making.Study 2b adopted 2(approach-motivated positive affect)× 2(shifting)between subject design to explore the effect of approach-motivated positive affect and shifting function on decision-making.The results indicated that shifting didn’t affect cognitive decision-making.And study 2c adopted 2(approach-motivated positive affect)× 2(updating)between subject design to explore the effect of approach-motivated positive affect and updating function on decision-making.The results indicated that updating didn’t affect cognitive decision-making.Study 3 adopted 2(approach-motivated positive affect)× 2(inhibition)× 2(type of task)mixed design to inspect the moderating effect of inhibition on the influence of approach-motivated positive affect on decision-making.The results suggested that after occupying inhibition function, participants’ correct rate were not significant in both group. Thus it can be seen that inhibition function moderated the effect of approach-motivated positive affect on decision-making.The conclusions drawn from this research were as followings: approach-motivated positive affect had significant effect on decision-making,which is moderated by inhibition function. Those who had better inhibition function had the ability to reduce adverse effects of high approach-motivated positive affect on decision-making in sport.
