The picture exhibition was originally a piano suite by famous Russian composer Moussorgski in nineteenth Century, which was completed in the year of 1874.The motivation of this work came from his last friend Hartmann's ten paintings on exhibition. Those ten completely unrelated paintings was linked by a theme called 'stroll ',displaying a music gallery full of emotional change and personalities. This unique thinking and bold innovation in writing made it the most popular work later and the one with most adaptions,in which the most famous is the orchestral version of French composer Ravel adaptation.Ravel's rich, original and unique orchestration made its performance more bright and colorful, attracting more audience.Ravel's rich and distinctive orchestration had also become the focus of the extensive study of scholars. This paper focuses on Ravel's orchestral adaptation of "pictures at an exhibition",mainly discusses the allocation of the band thinking and band processing from the piano to the band. The reflection of initial structure section in the band to the banding of piano texture combined with the theory gives detail, which is a critical step for us in orchestration learning and practice. This paper consists of four parts: introduction, the composer's biography and writing style, the piano and the band,"orchestration" thinking and the conclusion, with its focus on the analysis of "logic thinking in orchestration'.which shows in the second chapter and is particularly important for learning and mastering the technique of orchestration. The conclusion part is the summary of the research results.
