Puccini Giacomao,a notable and representative figure in the history of opera after Verdi in the early 20 th century,not only inherited the traditional Italian opera but also added novel elements such as “exotic” factors into it.In Puccini's opera works,the theme of “the great misery of unimportant individuals” was expressed by the combination of lyrical vocal melody and the orchestra,and the fabulous performance got great responses from the audience.Puccini preferred female characters as the main them of his works,thus a large number of soprano aria works were created.During the process of learning and performing part of arias of Puccini's works,the researcher combines her own performance experience and relevant literature research,she aims to provide guidance and suggestions to soprano aria learners,which can help them accurately grasp the artistic features and character images of Puccini's opera works.This paper is divided into four chapters:In Chapter One,the researcher briefly reviewed Puccini's life,and illustrated the background and achievements of Puccini from early,middle and late stages.On the basis of theme features,artistic creation features and musical style,the researcher investigated the artistic characteristics of Puccini's opera pieces in Chapter Two.The study of arias cannot be separated from the background of opera,therefore this chapter provides solid evidence to artistic features and performance analysis of soprano arias.In Chapter Three and Four,by using three aria cases,the researcher made further efforts to empirically analyze the artistic features of soprano arias.
