Song Poetry is known as one of the epitomes of traditional Chinese culture,of which,Su Shi is a distinguished writer.Taking three of his Ci-style poems as its study object,this thesis endeavors to delve into the rendition of the songs based on Ci-style Song Poetry.The thesis falls into five chapters,the first chapter of which includes two sections that throw light on Su Shi's life and the style of his writing.As the key chapters of the thesis,Chapter 2,3,and 4 analyze the writing of the 3 poems by putting them in the background of the writer's life in an attempt to interpret the poems,create a context for their rendition,invoke artistic imagery of the poems for singers,and,finally,make a detailed study of the music score whi le factoring in the characteristics of the composer and expound the rendition of the songs based on the singer's own experience.Chapter 5 is divided into two sections,the first of which serves as a summary of main points for the rendition of the songs based on Ci-style Song Poetry,and the second of which looks into the future of these songs.By means of studying the life and style of the writer and the background of the poems,the thesis demonstrates my preliminary preparations for the rendition of songs based on Ci-style Song Poetry,and illustrates the main points for their rendition.lt is my hope that the study of the Ci-style poems by Su Shi would serve as a precursor for singers in the preliminary study of these kind of works,and further promote the propagation of the songs based on Ci-style Song Poetry.
