Research On The Ethical Questions Of Human Genetic Enhancement Technology

As the protagonist of science and technology in the twenty-first Century,the generation and development of genetic technology has changed people's way of thinking and their life styles dramatically,and it promotes a better understanding of ourselves and explores the mysteries of life.Genetic enhancement technology is a kind of intervention technique that aims at modifying normal genes that are considered imperfect to achieve certain traits and abilities.According to different purposes,genetic enhancement can be classified as the enhancement for medical purposes and the enhancement for non-medical purposes;According to different position,genetic enhancement can be classified as the enhancement for somatic cells and the enhancement for germ cells.The genetic enhancement of somatic cells changes the individual itself,but meanwhile the genetic enhancement of germ cells may have unpredictable consequences for future generations.The genetic enhancement for medicinal purpose,namely genetic therapy,has been widely accepted by us,and applied for the cilinical medicine,such as the treatment of Hemophilia.While enjoying the benefits of technology,we should deeply reflect on the ethical problems brought about by genetic enhancement technology.In this paper,we focus on some of the social and ethical issues aroused by the application of genetic enhancement techniques for non-medical purposes,and the find out the causes of these problems and apply the relevant knowledge of bioethics to find the way to solve the problem and reduce the negative impact of gene enhancement technology in order to bring better benefit to human society.This paper is divided into six parts.The first part starts with the background and significance of the research on genetic enhancement technology,and analyze the existing technical achievements via reading domestic and foreign literature on human genetic enhancement technology,and find out the drawbacks and deficiencies of current research by using the relevant knowledge of Bioethics,and then clear theresearch methods of the article,put forward the innovation of the article.The second part introduces the meaning,category,development the future development trend of human genetic enhancement technology.The third part puts forward the ethical problems and causes of the technology brought to mankind,including some of the risk problems arising from the process of human genetic enhancement and the social equity issues associated with genetic enhancement,the problems of human dignity brought about by design of perfect babies,and,moreover.The fourth part analyzes causes of the problem from the perspective of technical ethics.The fifth part puts forward the coping principles and measures for the problems arising from the previous chapter.The sixth part summarizes the whole article.
