A Study On The Relation Between The Military Governor Of Jiannan And The Southwest Frontier Of The Tang Dynasty

The military governor of Jiannan is based on the evolution of district function and the political pattern of the southwest frontier in the Tang Dynasty,located in Sichuan and existed in the period of xuanzong to the end of the Tang.This position totally have 57 persons who are implementers of the Southwest frontier policy implementation.So their behaviors play an important role in governing political pattern.The paper aims to interpret the historical literature,discuss theirs' personality and analyze the influence of characters on the strategy of governing.Morever,it is designed to enrich the governance research about the southwest frontier of the Tang Dynasty.Under previous research results,it goes through the method of history,ethnology and is divided into three parts:The first part neatens the establishment and evolution of the military governor of Jiannan.By overviewing functions of district and changes of pattern in the southwest frontier,it sums up settings background.Then summarizing the setting and sub-rheological.The second part analysis the military governor of Jiannan and their personality.Through briefly showing their situations,it sums up the group's characteristics.Contacting transformation of the relationship between Nanzhao and the Tang,it analyzes the personality of relevant persons.And then divides into the type of profit-oriented,the type of smart and knowledge-type,the type of brave and skilled and the type of reckless and impatient.The third part studies how their behaviors to affect governance of the southwest frontier.By a summary of governing strategies to the Tang's southwest frontier in different periods,it briefly describes theirs' implementation and according to the military governor of Jiannan's characters and behaviors to summarize their influences in the governance of the southwest frontier.So it explains the influences on characters to the management of the southwest frontier.The following conclusions are drawn: in the reign of different rulers of the Tang Dynasty,they have policies that corresponding to the southwest frontier management.Although these policies are advantageous or not,policy implementers' personal reasons havegreat impacts on policy.As a direct participant,most of the military governor of Jiannan's characters influence execution and deviation.Thus it affects effects of governance in the southwest frontier.
