Insight,written by the former CCTV reporter Chai Jing,is a great hit in China.In the book there are many impressive events and figures,so the book is of great importance for people from both home and abroad to have a complete view of China.So if anyone wants to know what China has gone through in the span from 2003 to 2013,the book is a must-read.There are twenty chapters in the book,covering such hot issues as SARS,Wenchuan earthquake.The translator mainly translated the first chapter and the seventh chapter,about 15,000 words in total.The two chapters are the reflection of the how she became a report in CCTV and the pollution in Shanxi province.The report is guided by Lawrence Venuti's freignization translation theory.In his opinion,we should make the cultural otherness of the foreign text manifested in translation and retain the cultural diversity so that the target language readers can have a better comprehension of the original culture,so we need to make the translator visible in the translation.In order to ensure the faithfulness and fluency of the translation version,the translator took advantage of various translation techniques.The aim of this report is to probe and conclude the translation strategy on this kind of literary works,and hope that it will give some benefits to those who have interest in biographical literature translation.
