In the context of globalization, the impact of multi-cultural collision and integration becomes more and more prominent. In order to gain a foothold in the wave of globalization, the output of China's cultural products has been growing gradually. As one of the essences of Chinese traditional culture,Chinese Kung Fu,especially Shaolin Kung Fu,has gained increasing popularity among people around the world. But the lack of English translation of materials about Shaolin Kung Fu has,to a certain extent, limited the external publicity of Shaolin Kung Fu.This paper aims at enriching the English materials of Shaolin Kung Fu and enhancing the understanding of Shaolin Kung Fu among foreign friends, and also provides a reference for translation projects of the same subject. The content of the interpreting practice project is derived from the 15-episode documentary Chinese Kung Fu made by CCTV in 2008 in the Exploring and Discovering Channel. This report has interpreted the two episodes of the documentary Chinese Kung Fu naming Shaolin Kung Fu.The project has a total length of nearly one hour and the source text has more than 10 thousand words. It gives a comprehensive introduction to the origin, historical development, practicing characteristics of the Shaolin Kung Fu and its influence at home and abroad today. The source text is both interesting and rigorous, which can arouse the audience's interest and help them have a deeper and more detailed understanding of Shaolin Kung Fu.At the same time, the publicity of Shaolin Kung Fu can attract more people to visit the Shaolin Temple, thus,to a certain extent,it can promote economic development in the region. In this report, the author first introduces the origin, background and significance of this interpreting practice. Then the thesis provides a review of the whole interpreting practice and puts much emphasis on the interpreter's preparation before the interpreting including preparation and checking of tools used in the interpreting, preparation for the background knowledge and glossary related to the topic, knowledge about interpretive theory and the adjustment of the interpreter's own physical and mental state. In the body of the report, the author analyzes and summarizes some representative cases in the interpretation practice from the perspective of the dynamic RDA model. In the stage of “Revelance”,the interpreter directly used her vocabulary and encyclopedic knowledge schema to interpret the proper nouns in the source text.In the stage of “Deverbalization”,the interpreter extracted the key words and gained the core meaning of some phrases with literary characteristics. In the final stage of “Adaption”,the interpreter made some adjustments according to the context and language structure of the target language to make the interpretation of Chinese run-on sentences more authentic. Finally, the report summarizes the shortcoming of this practice, that is,the interpreter failed to achieve timely and effective interpretation of some proverbs with Chinese characteristics. The report concludes that the interpreter should strengthen the accumulation of knowledge in every field and enhance training of interpreting abilities to make a good long-term preparation for interpreting practice.
