This report is based on the author’s translation practice of Just Design, a masterpiece ofChristopher Simmons. There are five parts in the report, which mainly discusses the propernouns translation, including the translation of English names and company names,as well asrespective translation methods and strategies.In the report, the author first briefly introduces the definition of nouns and proper nouns,and mainly introduces the whole report. The second part introduces the writer and plot of thisbook and in particular, analyzes the excerpts, and the process of the translation task, such asthe pre-translating preparations and the schedule of the translation project. The third partmainly introduces the translation of names of persons and place names, including differencesbetween English names and Chinese names, and the principles of translating English names.The fourth part mainly discusses the theoretical direction and principle of the translation ofcompany names including dynamic equivalence and functional equivalence. The last part is aconclusion of this report, discussing the status quo and translation methods of proper nouns’translation. |
