"Intonation" can not only reflect the grammatical function of the sentence,but also express the mood and emotion of the speaker,it palys a very important role during communication.But the intonation of Chinese is one of the most difficult phonetic characteristics for overseas students,and a difficulty in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This paper used the analysis method of experimental phonetics,using the method of comparative analysis,via some informations of pitch such as the pitch of a syllable,the pitch range of a sentence,and the undulation between two words' pitch range,to research errors in Chinese interrogative intonation among Thai students whose Chinese in intermediate level.To find out the specific manifestation of the intonation errors,to analyze the causes of errors,and try to give Chinese language teachers some advice during Chinese intonation teaching according to the results of this research.This paper was divided into five parts:The first part was the introduction.This chapter determined the definition of intonation,elucidated the sources of the subject in this paper,described the research situation and development tendency from both domestic study and oversea study about Chinese intonation.And then,declared the purpose and meaning of this researchThe second part was chapter 1.This chapter in order to explain the design of this experimental research.mainly introduced the speakers of this experiment,the text for speaking of this experiment,the methods of this experiment and the theoretical basis of this experiment.The third part was from chapter 2 to chapter 4.Those chapters respectively researched the characteristic of Chinese interrogative intonation from Chinese speakers;The errors of Chinese interrogative intonation made by Thai students;And the characteristic of Thai interrogative intonation from Thai students.We found that Thai students whose Chinese in intermediate level,their errors mainly reflected in:(1)pitch range too narrow,(2)the undulations between two words' pitch range have significant difference with Chinese speakers,(3)pronunciation errors about modal particle.The causes of errors for Thai students are they influenced by the negative transfer from their native language.The fourth part was chapter 5.This chapter made a reflection according to the result of the research during Chinese intonation teaching.pointed out what should be paid attention to during Chinese intonation.And gave Chinese language teachers some advice to improve their teaching efficiency,gave overseas students some advice to improve their learning efficiency.The fifth part was the epilogue.summarized the conclusion of the research,pointed out the deficiency of this research,and made a expectation for further research about Chinese intonation.
