Bi shi,together with Ti shi,constitutes Shu shi.Strokes are connected with each other by means of Bi shi.In this way,a Chinese character is formed with vigor.The interactions between Bi shi and strokes run through the whole writing of a Chinese character.Thus it is considered that Shu shi is the interconnection between stippling and strokes and that among characters.The thesis,taking the regular script by Yan Zhenqing,intends to interpret Bi shi of Yan Zhenqing in terms of such different features as the break-up and connection of strokes.Ti Shi,namely,the shape of character,derives from various inclinations of brushes in the process of writing.It can be also regarded that Bi shi emphasizes more on the relationship among strokes,force,speed and tendency.Then,Ti shi pays more attention to the connection between the internal and external.The thesis deepens the study on Ti shi in terms of the scale,formation of the character through analyzing regular script by Yan Zhenqing.Bi shi,stressing timeliness,contributes to the coherent presentation of calligraphy.Strokes are connected from the start to the end,so are the characters.Ti shi emphasizes the space of calligraphy.It has different presentations for the size,density,flexibility etc.of each stroke could bring great influence on Ti shi.Besides that,calligrapher's emotions could also affect Ti shi.The thesis consists of three chapters.Chapter 1 concentrates on the introduction to the development of Shu shi.It maintains that Shi firstly refers to Shu shi of script with different styles in general.Then it is regarded as Bi shi.The development of Shu shi by means of the study of Jiu Shi and Yong Zi Ba Fa.Moreover,it interprets the characteristics of Shu shi in terms of the force,speed,motion and intention of Bi shi.The relationship between Shi and Ti shi is in the framework of viewpoints by Zhang Huaiguan.Chapter 2 focuses on studying the Bi shi of regular script by Yan Zhenqing.The features of his Bi shi is summarized into three points:1,the erection and force of Bi shi;2,the introduction to the motion of Bi shi in terms of the reversion,break and connection,square and circle of Bi shi;3,the speed of Bi shi.The exposition is combined with the study of regular script by Yan Zhenqing.At first,Chapter 3 explores the relationship between Ti shi and the structure by virtue of analyzing Ti shi in Yan Zhenqing's script.The relationship is presented in accordance with Parataxis,amphitheatre and so on.Secondly,it,in the light of the unity of opposites,conducts a study of dynamic Ti shi of regular script by Yan Zhenqing.
