Rumination And Depression Work On Cognitive Style

Objective:To explore the role of function of rumination effects on depression and cognitive style,and test the Differential Activation Hypothesis.Methods:548 students were randomly selected finished the Beck Depression Inventory 2nd Edition(BDI-II),Response Style Questionnaire(RRS)and Cognitive Style Questionnaire(CSQ).Using Boostrap method to analyze the mediation of rumination between depression and negative cognitive style;Because of the cross-sectional date,for testing the hypothesis that the direction of mediation is right,we should to analyze the mediation of rumination between negative cognitive style and depression.Results:(1)Rumination(including brooding and refection)shows statistically significant partial mediation effects on activating negative cognitive style;(2)Rumination(including brooding and refection)shows statistically significant partial mediation effects on leading to depression.Conclusions:The mediation of rumination that depression effects on cognitive style is not necessarily true,in which the direction of action may be interactive;The result partly confirms the Differential Activation Hypothesis.
