A Research On The Status Of Hope Of Adolescents And Its Relationship With Social Support And Grit

Hope is an important positive psychological quality.Being lack of hope is easy to lead to depression,anxiety and other negative emotions,and is not conducive to face life stress events by a positive way for young people.Improving hope can reduce negative emotions,enhance life satisfaction and future achievements,thus it is of great significance for young people to improve hope.In the past,the study of hope mainly focused on the function of hope,and there was few researches to explore the status and the generating mechanism of adolscents' hope.Therefore,in this study we have investigated the status of adolsents' hope and explored the relationship between social support,grit and the yongs' hope.The purpose is to find the impact of social demographic factors ? social support and grit on hope and to put forward specific suggestions for the promotion of teenagers' hope.In the early stage of the study,540 youngsters in a secondary school in Nanchang were selected as the objects,then we have took the middle school student hope scale,the grit scale and the adolescent social support rating scale as research tools to collect data.On this basis,descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,regression analysis,mediation effect test were used to process the data.For a comprehensive understanding of the status of teenagers' hope and to explore the reasons of the quantitative results,in the latter stage of the study,we have selected the six young people as the case interview objects.In the survey,the results were obtained:(1)The adolscents' hope score were lower than the average points so the situation is not optimistic.(2)The results show that except the gender factor,other factors such as grade?family origin and parent's work type can significantly affect the level of hope of adolescents.(3)The grit and social support both show a significantly positive correlation with adolscents' hope,furthermore social support and grit can be positive predictors of adolsents' hope.(4)The results of mediation effect test show that grit plays a mediating rolebetween social support and hope.Conclusion: It is imperative to raise the hope of young people.To enhance the adolescents' hope,on the one hand,we should take different measures according to different grades,different students' acoount locations,different work types of their parents;on the other hand,the social support and grit should be improved to enhance the hope of adolescents.
