This paper attempts to analyze the schema and its representation in Chinese figure painting.Based on the character modeling in Chinses figure painting,the article will explain "integrationof the form and thespirit",the artistic creative idea of Chinese figure painting.The visual input transformed into the image schema would be then represented.The process shows the unique characteristic in expressing the spirit since the figures in the painting are normally vividly portrayed.Inspired by the new visual experience brought out by the progressiveness of the times and culture exchange,Chinese painters start to explore new methods.The first chapter states the concepts of visual experience and schema.Chapter Two provides several examples to analyze the characteristics of image representation in Chinesefigure painting.To further explain the aestheticconnotation of Chinese figure painting,the third chapter willexpatiate onthe similarities and differences of the schema representation between Chinses and Western painting.Chapter Four will discuss the inspiration of new visual experience in Chinese figure painting.
