Application And Strategies Of Cooperative Principles And Politeness Principles In Foreign Trade Correspondence Translation

With the deep development of China's reform and opening-up and the economic growth,cultural development and exchanges become more frequent.At present,the domestic large,medium and even small micro-enterprises have carried out foreign trade business and the number of staff has also increased dramatically.Foreign Trade Correspondence plays the critical role for businessman doing business with overseas customers.In this case,the ability to translate Foreign Trade Correspondence,accurately conveying the buyers and sellers transaction information,will have a direct impact on business.Presently,E-C Literature Translation classes are set up for English major students in most universities,and both teachers and students spend much time on it.However,students are serious lack of business knowledge and practice training opportunities.Few of them know about the courtesy and cooperation or other language features in Foreign Trade Correspondence,resulting in choosing to use very impolite and improper English vocabulary when doing business with overseas customers,which greatly affects the trade communication and understanding,and even leads to economic disputes.At this point,the choice of accurate and professional language is particularly urgent during the translation process of Foreign Trade Correspondence.The purpose of this paper is to study the appropriateness and validity of applying Grice's Cooperative Principles and Geoffrey Leech's Politeness Principles to translation practice,and to analyze the application of the two principles in translation of Foreign Trade Correspondence.This paper also attempts to analyze the accurate,concise,sincere and friendly features in Foreign Trade Correspondence,and to translate the Foreign Trade Correspondence under the guidance of the theory of Cooperative Principles and Politeness Principles in pragmatics to achieve the desired effect including: truthfully transmitting information and easily understood and accepted by the clients,for the sake of trade exchanges between the two sides.At the same time,it also provides reference for solving the problems such as improper wording,long procrastination,and rudeness in the process of translating Foreign Trade Correspondence,so as to achieve the scientific development of Foreign Trade Correspondence translation and teaching.
