Due to the traditional consulting which face to face has some disadvantages,such as the limited number of the outpatient consultants,the efficiency of counseling is relatively low,and its price is more expensive.Compare with traditional consulting,the online positive psychological intervention with these advantages:convenience,confidentiality,cheap,targeted,more attractive to college students.Positive emotion has already been proven to improve the psychological resource,social resource and happiness levels of college students,and recent studies have focused on positive psychology interventions that might improve the level of positive emotion and improve health and wellness.Entertainment video is one effective medium to improve positive emotion but being overlooked.At present,there is limited literature which investigated the effects of entertainment videos on positive emotion and the trajectory of related psychological traits.Therefore,the present study aims to:(a)examine the effects of the feeling of hope and amusement that induced by Underdog videos and comedy videos on psychological resource,social resource,mental health,life satisfaction and academic engagement;(b)explore the developmental trajectories of psychological resource,social resource,mental health,life satisfaction and academic engagement during the period of intervention.The current study can be divided into two parts.A pilot study was conducted previously that aimed to filter the most effective videos to induce related feelings,with 42 for each were elected(84 in total).Then 204 participants were recruited for the three-wave panel experiment.All participants were randomly assigned into two experimental groups(Underdog condition and comedy condition)and one control group.The two experimental group accepted the video intervention in 6 weeks.Participants were asked to watch a short video that last 3-8 minutes each day.Pretest was conducted one day before the formal experiment,and the subsequent measurements were conducted each 2 weeks.Results are showed as following:(1)The increase of psychological resources,mental health,and life satisfaction in experimental group are higher than control group,and there is no difference of increase of interpersonal trust,social support and academic engagement between experimental group and control group.·(2)There is linear growth of resilience,mental health,academic engagement,energy of academic engagement and concentration in underdog condition.Interpersonal trust and life satisfaction in underdog condition increased first and then decreased,indicating there was quadratic growth tendency.The challenge factor of mental health in underdog condition decreased first and then increased,indicating there was quadratic growth tendency.(3)For comedy condition,the control,resilience,social support,life satisfaction,academic engagement,energy of academic engagement and concentration increased lineally.(4)The growth of resilience,academic engagement,concentration and energy were faster in underdog condition than comedy condition.(5)Life satisfaction of control group increased lineally.The growth of life satisfaction were faster in comedy condition than comedy condition.Conclusion:This is an effective way to improve college students' personal resources and mental health through streaming video of entertainment.The student which watch different types of entertainment video has different developed trajectory in personal resources,mental health and devote in study.Underdog condition is more asssociated with increasing college students' mental health and academic engagement,while comedy condition is more associated with improving college students'psychological resource.Discussion is offered in terms of theoretical and practical implications,limitations,and areas for future research.
