This report is a case study of the C-E translation.Based on the translation of the book The Wave:In Pursuit of the Rogues,Freaks, and Giants of the Ocean by Susan Casey,it is to give an introduction to the translation task and an analysis of the difficulties encountered in translating it.According to Jiri Levy's translation theory, the report discusses and analyzes the main problems in the process of translation and respective solutions. It focuses on the following three points:word choices under the definitional instruction and selective instruction, the translation of phrases under the guidance of minimax strategy and the translation of long sentences under the guidance of illusion theory.Jiri Levy's translation theory enjoys strong practical significance.Compared with traditional translation theories,it highlights a translator's identity and emphasizes a translator's subjective initiative, that is,"translation as a decision process".At the same time, his theory also defines the limits when translators make decisions according to their subjective activities. |
