Hunan Civilian Education Weekly is a kind of supplement of Ta Kung Pao and also the issue of the Hunan Civilian Education Promotion Association.It started its publication at 11 th.,Dec.,1923,and stopped its publication at 8th.,Oct.,1926.During these two years,it honestly recorded the rise of the civilian education ideological trend and the theoretical and practical exploration of the civilian education theory in Hunan Province after the May 4th movement.Hunan Civilian Education's rapid development is inseparable from the Hunan autonomy movement.The establishment of Hunan Civilian Education Weekly aims at not only arousing the interest of people in society in civilian Education to develop civilian education,but also studying the implementation of its theoretical principle to realize the ideal.The first eight issues of Hunan Civilian Education Weekly were compiled by Zhou Fang,Gong Yuncun,Peng Wenyuan,Chen Yan,Cao Dianqi,Huang Yanren etc.And it was later chiefly edited by Gong Yuncun,Zhou Fang,Gan Rong and Jiang Kecheng successively.Most of the authors of Hunan Civilian Education Weekly are members from Hunan Civilian Education Promotion Association and a few from all walks of life.Because of the upheaval of the time and uncertainty nature of article,the column of Hunan Civilian Education Weekly usually varied with the the article theme,which made it content-rich.Hunan Civilian Education Weekly was mainly to develop the research and propaganda of Civilian Education.With the comparative analysis between civilian education and compulsory education,civilian education and adult supplementary education the United States,the educational objects and content of civilian education were well defined and civilian education was properly recognized.The implementation of civilian education in Hunan satisfied the requirements from civilians,Hunan autonomy movement and revolution,and was conducted through the implementation method of civilian education,compiling of the civilian education textbook,the founding of the civilian education and the establishment of civilian schools,which provided theoretical direction for civilian education throughout Hunan province.Besides,Hunan Civilian Education Weekly provided specific guidance on the development of civilian education and implemented the ideas of education without distinction of civilian education by directing farmers,women,soldiers and other occupations in civilian education.In addition,Hunan Civilian Education Weekly did a dissection of the implementation of civilian education,summed up experience and lessons from civilian education around Hunan and finally provided practical guidance for the public.Therefore,Hunan Civilian Education Weekly obviously reflected the trend of saving the nation by education and had a strong spirit of patriotism.The measures and methods it put forward had a certain influence on the civilian education movement and social concept's innovation.Hunan Civilian Education Weekly rose from Hunan autonomy movement while its development gave a massive boost to Hunan autonomy movement.
