| As interpretation continues to expand into all areas of society,it is covering an increasingly wide array of clients,settings and forms of events,resulting in a widening range of linguistic styles.Therefore,how to properly address the issue of styles has become a key task for interpreters.As a bridge of communication,interpreters,while conveying information,need to be able to identify the styles of source languages and translate them into target languages in appropriate styles so as to faithfully express the linguistic styles of speakers,ensure understanding by listeners,and realize the most effective interpretation.Starting with the definition and classification of styles,this thesis summarizes the criteria for matching linguistic styles and examines the pros and cons of how styles are addressed in three typical classes of source languages in consecutive interpretation,using the interpretation of training courses for Registered Technology Transfer Professionals as the case of study.Strategies and methods for addressing styles are discusses at the end to provide guidance for how to properly convey linguistic styles in interpretation practice. |
