A Report On The Translation Of Tectonic Earthquakes Of Anthropogenic Origin

This report is based on the translation of Part 1 Tectonic Earthquakes of Anthropogenic Origin.This paper is written by V.V.Adushkin,an academician of Russian Academy of Sciences.It is not easy to predict earthquakes.Their losses are irrevocable.The impact of human activities on the cause of earthquake can't be ignored,even in some tectonic earthquakes,the seismic origins are due to human activities to remark nature.The source text aims to help us understand something about human factors in the earthquakes,to supervise the constructions of large-scale national projects.The thesis applies stylistic into scientific translation.Scientific texts have unique linguistic form and stylistic features,which include accuracy and norm,conciseness and clarity,objectivity and formality,strict in logic,etc.In translating,the information of the origin must be thoroughly understood.At the same time,the target text must conform to the scientific style in Chinese.The combination of stylistic analysis and scientific translation can not only help to transfer text information accurately but also improve readability and quality of target text.The thesis first makes a brief review on the source text.Then it introduces the definition of stylistics and the major research findings and viewpoints of some representative scholars who have conducted translation studies from the perspective of stylistics.Next,it analyses the stylistic features of the source text at lexical level,syntactic level,and semantic level.Based on the above analysis,the author discusses her choice of translation strategies and methods appropriate to this translation practice and supports her discussion with some representative examples.At last,the thesis summarizes the key points on how to improve the quality of scientific translation.
