The Effectiveness Of Detecting Lies By Realistic Montoring In Chinese Context

We live in a world filled fully by lies,and each of us is eager to see through every lie.There are more and more ways to detect lies,from the use of nonverbal cues to the use of verbal clues.The latter is becoming more and more important because of its simplicity and effectiveness.Most researchers have identified allegations by the validity of evaluations in demonstrating;however,in recent years on detecting lies by nonverbal clues,researchers had proposed another approach: realistic monitoring.Realistic monitoring is based on the study of true and false memories and has abundant theories.Unfortunately,the previous studies were based on English,there were few researches based on Chinese.Therefore,in order to expand the scope of the application of realistic monitoring,it is necessary to study the effectiveness of using the real-time monitoring technology to identify the authenticity of the Chinese participants.This study explores the effects of different statements on identifying lies by the reality of monitoring,and the effectiveness of identifying lies by the reality of monitoring under the witness paradigm.The experimental results are as follows:1.In the context of Chinese,we used two paradigms: a)free to recall paradigm and b)the witness paradigm;and no matter which paradigm to be used,no matter whether the statement is oral or written,real statements and false statements in the realistic monitoring are significant difference in every criterion.In the index of information of visual,auditory,time and space,the scores of real statements are higher than those of false statements.In emotional and cognitive operation information,the scores of false statements are higher than those of real statements.And all scores reached a statistically significant level.In each condition,the confidence of body rarely showed in the statement of participants.2.Using real and false statements as two dependent variables and six index scores as independent variables,we took Logistic regression methods to find out that as more and more index enter the Logistic equation,the accuracy rate will be higher and higher.In the study1,emotional and auditory information,cognitive operation,time and spatial information as independent variables entered into the logistic regression equation gradually.But the visual information did not enter the logistic equation.The accuracy of the authenticity of the testimony was increased from 87.5% to 100%.In the study 2,cognitive operation,auditory and spatial information as independent variables entered into the logistic regression equation gradually.But visual,time and emotional information did not enter the logistic equation.The accuracy of the authenticity of the testimony was improved from 82.5% to only 97.5%.In the study 3,visual,spatial information and cognitive operation as independent variables entered into the logistic regression equation gradually.But time,spatial and emotional information did not enter the logistic equation.The accuracy of the authenticity of the testimony was increased from 92.5% to 97.5%.The results of the study 1 and the study 2 suggested that the accuracy of the false statement recognition is greater than the accuracy of the real statement by the effectiveness of using realistic monitoring to determine the authenticity of the past memory,which means that the authenticity of the past memory,the real monitoring is more conducive to identify false statements.In the study 3,the accuracy of the real statement recognition is greater than the accuracy of the identification of false statements.
