In the process of language acquisition, the emergence of learners' error is a normal phenomenon.Error is different from mistake;it is the manifestation of learners' language that deviated from the standard form of the target language.Errors, which occur regularly and repetitively, are generally hard to be realized.Although passive voice is one of the coexist phenomenon between English and Chinese, learners tend to make under-passive and over-passive mistakes owing to the language difference and the impact of their mother tongue.Based on this, this article mainly focuses on learners' error of English passive voice and tries to find the causes of error by analyzing relevant statistics. At last, some suggestions regarding passive and grammar teaching will be given. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction part, which mainly elaborates the subject origin, situation of related research, core concepts and the theoretical foundation. The main theories are Comparative Analysis Theory,Error Analysis Theory and Interlanguage Theory. In the second chapter,English passive, including its basic structure, functions and scope of usage are analyzed. In the third chapter, errors in passive learning of Chinese students are classified into three types;they are under-passive,over-passive and malformed passive.Under-passive errors are divided into the omit of auxiliary verb, the context in which passive should have been used, errors on certain fixed sentence structure;over-passive is manifested as passive of some intransitive verbs, errors on certain transitive verbs and infinitive form.According to the classification criterion, distributions of various types of errors are analyzed based on the Chinese Learner English Corpus established by Gui Shichun and Yang Huizhong. The data shows that:different learners have different errors in passive learning,under-passive is the most universal among all the errors.According to the different distribution of errors, causes of the errors are analyzed in the fourth chapter mainly from four aspects;they are transfer of learner's mother tongue and target language, learner's cognitive level and external learningfactors.Based on the reason analysis, certain specific teaching suggestions are given. The fifth chapter is the summary part, which points out problems that need to be improved in the further study. It is of great significance to make learners' error as the entry point of second language research, which can help to understand the general laws of learners' language learning.Through the learners' error analysis in passive learning,we can be more clearly aware of the problems that learners have in the acquisition of this grammar. As for teachers, this research can help them better grasp the important and difficult points of English passive teaching, guiding them to use different solutions in different situations, which may have a positive role in promoting the effectiveness of grammar teaching.
