Nowadays,peace and development are main trends in the world.However,conflicts rise one after another due to different understanding of religious culture.Islamic civilization has attracted more and more people's attention along with the increasing intense controversy about world civilization.Therefore,this task based on the translation of Volume Two of the book of Muhammad and his successors written by Washington Irving(1783—1859)in America.The original text accounted Abu Beker and Omar Ibn Rabiyah,the first and the second successor of Muhammad,how to uphold the legacy,spread Islam and Islamic civilization in a succession of wars.The translation report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction to the task description.The second chapter is the translation process.The third chapter focuses on the theory "translation as adaptation and selection" came up with the Professor Hu Gengshen in 2004.And the translation method of the"translation as adaptation and selection" is summarized as "three-dimensional transformations" that is concentrated on the linguistic dimension,cultural dimension,and communicative dimension.The fourth chapter,the main body of the report,is case analysis of using translation methods of addition,omission and combination.The fifth chapter is the conclusion which includes the experience and problems during the translation process.The translation is an essential part of the author's MTI study from which the author earned and understood more about the translation nature,and has found some personal disadvantages and the future direction.
