Central plain area has always been one of the central regions of Chinese civilization since ancient times.During the middle and late stage in the Neolithic Age about 9000-5000 year ago, there successively appeared brilliant ancient culture represented by Peiligang Culture and Yangshao Culture. While the housing base closely related to life has experienced a long but winding development and evolution process.Multiple branches of archaeological culture in the middle and late stage of the Neolithic Age in the central plain area could be divided into two major time nodes as the Peiligang Era and Yangshao Era.Due to the difference of housing base varieties in every time period, statistical and classification work could be conducted from the aspect of housing architecture category, plane form and housing area. The form of diagram could directly present the evolution conditions of housing base in different time periods. At the same time, this thesis figures out the relative time sequence of houses in all historical sites in combination with existing cultural division results made by relevant scholars and lays the foundation for further in-depth study. In consideration of the large time span and complicated research problems in the middle and late stage of the Neolithic Age,this thesis explores relevant problems concerning housing base in the middle and late stage of the Neolithic Age in the central plain area based on previous classification and division results and meanwhile conducts in-depth study on these problems from the perspective of housing construction technical evolution, housing form and social evolution and housing construction influences.Throughout the horizontal comparison of archaeological culture in different regions within the same period,it could be found out that different cultures in multiple regions have common epochal features in housing construction as well as diversified traces and distinctive evolution paths. The diversity is much more prominent than universality in construction. In the meanwhile, this thesis also analyzes the similarities and differences of housing bases in different regions and explores corresponding possible influences, thus further clarifying the style and characteristics of housing bases in the middle and late stage of the Neolithic Age in the central plain area.
