The Relations Of Mothers' Parenting Stress,Parenting Attitude And Children Behaviour Problems

Recently,much attention has been directed to mothers'parenting stress which has a significant effect on children problem behaviours. Excessive parenting stress will not only bring about intensities and anxieties to parents, but also affect the children problem behaviours directly or indirectly, resulting in considerable deteriorations of parents' life quality as well as children physical and psychological development, consequently. As a result,a intensive study on the action mechanism between parenting stress and children problem behaviours, as well as the factors of children problem behaviours which are found from multi-angles are of importance to the prevention and interference of children problem behaviours.492 mothers whose children are in primary school through 1st grade in Beijing were chosen to investigate the relations among mothers' parenting stress, parenting attitude and children problem behaviours with a method of questionnaire survey.The main conclusions can be drawn as follows:1. The revised Parenting Stress Index-Short Form which includes 3 subscales and 34 items altogether has been proven to be in good reliability and acceptably validity.2. Total parenting stress, parenting attitude, children problem behaviors and their subscales have significant differences on some of the demographic variables.3. Children problem behaviors could be predicted by difficult children and stern punishment positively, however, emotional warmth negatively.4. Mothers' parenting stress can influence the children problem behaviours directly. In addition, it also can affect the children problem behaviours indirectly through parenting attitude and emotional warmth.
