The Modern Translation Mode Of Flexible Used Adjectives And The Examination Of Its Factuality

The research into the "MOMT (Mode of modern translation)" of flexible used adjectives, has already made certain achievements, thus provides more reliable corpus and referential methods for further research into hierarchy of "MOMT" studies. But at the same time, such achievement has also a number of disadvantages. This article is focusing on such shortcomings, based on example-analysis, using the "MOMT" of flexible used adjectives as research object. In order to build a comprehensive system of modern translation of adjectives, this article is taking. Quantitative-investigation-method,Multidimensional -analysis, Systematic-generalization and Corpus-based-approach as research technique.This article is willing to make up for the disadvantages and push on the research of the "MOMT" of flexible used adjectives.The main route of the research in this article is to focus on grammar and semantic.Taking the examples of modern translation of adjectives flexibility,generalize the hierarchy of "MOMT" studies, and identify the modern mode of translation of adjectives.According to the research referred above,this article drew conclusions below.First, hierarchy of "MOMT" of flexible used adjectives. Summarizing the first hierarchy with a view of grammar firstly,"phrase and expressions" and "translation of words". In the respect of word-forming. "translation of words" can be summarized as the second "MOMT" of adjectives such as "modifier-head type","complement type","joint type", "verb-object structure type" etc.The "phrase and expressions" is more complicated.According to its flexible translated meaning we can obtain the basic translation type, namely second level translation mode,e.g.:the basic translation mode of adjective be used as verb is "property state+structure auxiliary word+objective/character". This basic translation mode can be refining generalized to two individual3rd translation type,namely "property state+structure auxiliary word+objective" and "property state+structure auxiliary word+character". Not all the examples of flexible translation accord with the 3rd translation type properly. When the adjective is flexible used as objective, some of the structure auxiliary word are omitted. Some add verbs in front of structure auxiliary words,so there exist still other"MOMT" such as "property state+objective" and "property state+action+structure auxiliary word+objective".This article conclude them as the 4th hierarchical translation.The other flexible translation type can be also refining generalized in the same method,and form another hierarchy of "MOMT" of flexible used adjectives in the end. It is impossible for us to build hierarchy of "MOMT" of adjective accurately and completely either only in semantic category or only in grammatical category, only by combining these two categories can we summarize the "MOMT" system scientifically.Second, previous academics often take "translation of words" as the summarize of"MOMT" of flexible used adjectives. During the collecting of "MOMT" examples this article discovered that "translation of words" widely existed, and is also occupying an assignable proportion. In isolated cases, a single "flexible word" could be not only translated in "translation of words" mode but also in "phrase and expressions" mode.Either of these has an opposite effect on translations. E.g.:"?(raise) in “???????????,?(raise)??(?????·???)",can be translated to "make sth.Expensive" in "phrase and expressions" way and can be translated to "raise (the price)"in "translation of words" way.Third, according to the examination of "MOMT" in the 4th paragraph in this article,the hierarchical system summarized in this article is practicable.But when facing particular flexible adjective issues.In addition to the translation mode for reference, it should be combined with the context and use the translation of the characteristics of the word itself.E.g.: "?(light)"in "????????(light)????????" is translated to "not consider sth. Difficult."in Puqing Chen's???????He uses the mode of "negative+prep.+.....(obj.)+sub. Judgment+property state".This mode starts from the angle of denying the opposite state.Namely double negative is affirmative. "not consider sth. difficult ” is equal to "consider sth. easy".Forth, in the respect of research in "MOMT" of flexible used adjectives there still exists insufficiency in this article. The examples is not comprehensive enough,in the examination in this article, there are isolated cases that are not accord with their classifications of "MOMT",instead, they accord with their upper level translation type or the "MOMT" of other type of adjectives. Plus, the research of "translation of words" is not deep enough.It needs further digging in the future research of "MOMT" of flexible used adjectives.
