Providing for the aged is an important symbol of a country's social civilization.It is not only the responsibility of every family,but also should be shouldered by country and society.Britain built a more perfect providing for the aged system earlier in the world,and its transformation and development in the late Middle Ages played an important role in the whole development history of the providing for the aged system.The unique social providing for the aged in the late medieval England made a different situation between rural areas and most traditional society.The rural areas formed a variety of providing for the aged modes on condition that property was the medium of exchange.The traditional family mode of providing for the aged couldn't meet the needs of social development.Providing for the aged was out of family range and became a society problem.In this process,the rural mode of providing for the aged was changed and the single family providing for the aged spread to household,religion and society.They gradually built up diversified modes of providing for the aged relying on their own characteristics and advantages.The traditional family providing for the aged mode emerged a new transition.Neighbors and strangers without kinship also became to the person in charge of providing for the aged.Therefore the scale of the person in charge of providing for the aged enlarged.Religion of providing for the aged was maintained,but it was still shrunk.While the monastery of providing for the aged institution affected the choice of secular society and established a model in charity.It actively combined and unified the power of the Christian church from place to place.Consequently the providing for the aged business got organization,scale and standardization.Before the national system being mature,the society of providing for the aged combined the power of the village community and the social wealthy stratum,and gradually highlighted and played its own role in the aspect of providing for the aged.Ultimately it contributed to the construction of the providing for the aged system.In a word,the above three aspects complemented each other and created a good providing for the aged.Thereby the providing for the aged was incorporated into the controllable range and built up the basic way of modern British providing for the aged.At the same time,the formation of providing for the aged relationship,agreement of providing for the aged and security of providing for the aged are inherited and retained basically,but providing for the aged contents are more detailed and providing for the aged security is more standardized.These all have important reference and guiding significance on the providing for the aged problem construction of the rural areas in our country at present.
