His works Never Let Me Go has aroused great concern from the literary and critical circles since it got published in 2005 ,it also has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize nomination. Under the shell of the science fiction, the novel shows the short life of the clone as an organ donor in an era of highly developed biotechnology, especially their friendship and love. This paper intends to analyze the tragic fate of clone in the nove with Michel Foucault's theory of power ,and rethink the plight of modern people. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper will be divided into three chapters:The introduction briefly introduces the life and creation experience of Kazuo Ishiguro, analysis research status of Never Let Me Go at home and abroad, and briefly introduces the research methods and research significance of this paper. The first chapter analyzes the space of discipline,The power of discipline first work in the space of discipline.First is the allocation and positioning of space, and the positioning of the space causes a strict hierarchy, this is the primary condition to control them. Another aspect is the architectural form of these places, which is typically panotic.Such an architectural form, always make clone feel that they are in a state of being monitored,so that their behavior is well monitored and suppressed, that is an important factor in the discipline of clone. The second chapter analyzes the means of discipline and the failure of resistance.According to Foucault, one of the poles of power development is the discipline of the flesh, which takes the human body as the center, producing both useful and docile bodies. The procedure it uses is discipline, while the protection of this success is a few very simple means: hierarchical observation, normalizing judgment and examination. In the book, the clone is faced with the hierarchical observation from both clone and human society,as well as Miss Emily's normalizing judgment and various examination, and it is under such means that clone are classified astamed flesh. While where there is power, there is resistance. There are two aspects of resistance in the discipline system of clone. One comes from human society, which is the guardian Miss Lucy's outbreak on the taboo of Hailsham, and the Hailsham homestay system's attempt to give clone people a better life. Another of the power exists in clone society, this is Tommy's resistance. But these attempts to resist eventually failed, Miss Lucy was fired, Hailsham was finally closed, Tommy also gave up all, accepted his own fate. The failure of the attempt has deepened the tragic fate of the clone. The third chapter analyzes the existence status of human beings by analyzing the tragic fate of the clone. Similar to clone, modern people live under the background of highly developed information technology, but are increasingly indifferent and isolated. The modern people are also deeply involved in the network of disciplinary power, and become more and more transparent and homogeneous. Through the way which clone face the plight of life, modern people may seek salvation from the aesthetics of existence by love and responsibility. The conclusion summarizes the viewpoints of the article, grasps the root of the tragic fate of the clone, and reflects on the existence status of human beings.
