On The Tragic Fate Of Women In Zhang Wei's Novels

Zhang Wei is one of the most reputable and contributive writers of the New Era and is highly recognized by the Contemporary Literature History. In the mean time, he is also a person experiencing pain and a real thinker in Chinese literary world, with intense responsibility and consciousness of hardships. His sense of humanity makes him focus on the tribulation of human beings, especially on tragedies of female living status and environment.This thesis focuses on the description of tragic fate of the women characters in Zhang Wei's different novels on the basis of analyzing dozens of his novels, and with this clue, the author studies the writer's invention and ideology, macroscopically and microcosmically. Through analyzing the causes of female tragic fate, the author characterizes the trail of the development of the writer's thoughts, and summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of the writer in exploring the causes of the tragedy and the ways to solve them.This thesis contains three parts: preface, main body and conclusion. In the preface, the author introduces the different composing phases and achievements of Zhang Wei and the studies to his works, selects the female tragic fate from some of the novels as the stand. The main body of this thesis is divided into two parts: the first part mainly describes the tragic fate of female characters in Zhang Wei's novels; the second part discusses the causes of the tragic fates and the ways of saving the tragedy. The causes include: the concussion of materialization in the real world, the accumulation of uncultured factors of traditional Chinese culture and the evil of humanity. In the conclusion, the author discusses the characteristics of Zhang Wei's literature and his continual literature career.
