The Promotion Of Imaging Contact To Intergroup Trust:The Mediating Effect Of Contact Willingness And Social Distance

In our real life,we have a variety of relationships with our own groups and other groups everyday,intergroup communication theory pointed out that positive interaction can improve intergroup relations between individuals,but the individual often have more preference of their own group,researchers also pointed out that the positive contact is one of the most effective strategy.The research shows that intergroup contact is an important way for improving intergroup relations,such as stronger willingness,smaller social distance,and improve the sense of trust between groups,even imagining contact with outgroup members,it will have a series of positive effects.Intergroup contact can improve intergroup relations,and intergroup trust is an important aspect of intergroup relations,enhancing intergroup trust can be very good to promote the development of intergroup relations,forming the concordant intergroup relationships.Intergroup trust still plays an important role in promoting national relation,directly affects the positive development of the nation,as a special factor,the national relations often establishes close or distant intergroup relations in daily interactions,any one nation is not an isolated development,it always in contact with other national groups in the process of growing,so we need to create more opportunities to promote national harmony between the development and communication,and imagined contact as an effective means plays a crucial role in promoting intergroup relations,so in the view of psychology,we provote the harmony relation and enhance the national fellings between different nationalities from the perspective of dynamic ethnic exchange process by using the method of imagined intergroup contact.In addition,intergroup contact willingness is a psychological variables which most close to the actual behavior,and it can have a positive effect on the development of intergroup relationship;intergroup social distance is an important index to describe and measure individual and intergroup relations,it is used to distinguish the degree of close or distant intergroup relations,and it can also be reflected in the different process of national communication.So this study mainly through two experiments to explore the effect of imagi intergroup contact on explicit and implicit intergroup trust,and we also examined the mediating effects of intergroup contact willingness and intergroup social distance between imagined intergroup contact and intergroup trust.Through the experiment we mainly get the following conclusions:(1)imagined intergroup contact effectively improved intergroup trust.Participants under the condition of imagining contact had higher explicit and implicit scores,showing stronger intergroup contact willingness and intergroup smaller social distance;(2)the subjects of Hui and Han increased intergroup trust after imagined intergroup contact,among them,there were more intergroup identity of the same religious individuals,higher scores of implicit and explicit trust,stronger contact willingness and smaller social distance;(3)contact willingness and social distance played a partial intermediary role between imagined contact and explicit intergroup trust;and there also played a intermediary role between imagined intergroup contact and implicit intergroup trust,the contact willingness played a partial intermediary role,and social distance played a complete intermediary role.
