The Research Of The Theater Opera Advertiment On The Newspaper Which Include The Taiyuan Area In The Late Qing Dynasty And The Period Of The Republic Of China

The late Qing Dynasty is the booming period of Chinese opera.After the May 4th movement,the newspaper industry is developing rapidly.Newspaper,as the important carrier of the masses' communication,record a lot of precious historical data.The appearance of the propaganda and packaging of theatre opera advertising played a huge role in promoting the developing of opera.This paper gathered up some advertisements for operas by browsing the main newspapers in Taiyuan,Shanxi Province of China in the late Qing Dynasty.It made researches on the theater opera ads on the newspapers referring to the historical materials and got to know the main theaters then in Taiyuan city,the forms of opera advertising,and the theatrical troupes,the billing cast,the list of the operas and the ticket prices then.In addition,during the republic of China,China's printing and publishing were most flourishing.The sorts and quantity of the newspapers and magazines in this period have an extremely important position in the Chinese publishing history.And the designs of the commercial ads and ads for performances are unique.In order to broaden the scope of research,the author links the traditional opera with advertising,design,brand promotion and and finally researches from an innovative angel.In this paper,the author studies Shanxi Daily,one of the three main newspapers,giving an overview about the changing of the layout,the graphic design,especially the use of various elements of the ads for operas on Shanxi Daily,thus to witness the importance of newspaper in the developing of the traditional opera.
