A Project Report On The C-E Interpretation Of The Fifth CITTC

The 5th China Jiangsu Conference for International Technology Transfer and Commercialization was held in Kunshan from November 9th to 11th. The reporter served as an interpreter at the conference and interpret for a government official of his speeches.This report discusses the major issues and difficulties encountered by the interpreter and provides several solutions to the problems. The reporter analyzes her misunderstanding of the source language, studies the order difference of attribute between Chinese and English,and the reporter also puts forward the obstacles of Chinese expression habits,mainly reflected in massive use of structure of verb-object coordination and adverbs. Based on the practice and previous studies, the reporter sums up three solutions to tackle the obstacles. First, make adequate preparation and constantly accumulating to enrich necessary knowledge for interpreting; Second, simplify redundancy and repetition in Chinese and enrich the omitted content and potential meanings; Third, use logical signs in note-taking and interpret to reveal and stress the logical relations. Based on the study and analysis,the reporter provides various solutions to the difficulties discussed as well the limitations and recommendations for the interpreters.
