The Emplovment Of Logical Analysis In Reproducing Massive Source Language Information

Interpretation is a process of logical analysis which is extremely important in phases such as decoding the source language and outputting the target language. Due to the fact that there are substantial differences between Chinese and English in terms of grammatical structure, sentence logic and expression sequence, interpreters should, in the process of doing consecutive interpretation of the above-mentioned language pair, pay proper attention to these differences and make logical analysis and adjustment in a timely manner. The ability to conduct logical analysis will directly affect the quality of interpretation.With the groundwork of the consecutive interpretation for the "China-Israel Agricultural Cooperation" as the basis and the knowledge learned from previous researches both at home and abroad as theoretical support, the author of this report (hereinafter referred to as "the author") discusses the significance of logical analysis in receiving the source language, taking notes and outputting the target language. In the stage of receiving the source language, interpreters should conduct initial logical analysis and integration to guarantee the uniformity between source language and target language. In the stage of taking notes, interpreters should employ logically-clear and time-saving symbols to indicate the underlying logic in the source content which could help interpreters reproduce clearly-structured target content. In the stage of outputting the target language, interpreters should bear in mind the differences between Chinese and English and make logical adjustment in a timely manner to ensure that the interpretation fits the speaking habit of the target audiences. With the help of the above-mentioned analysis, the author explores how to employ logical analysis to reproduce massive source language information and puts forward several logical reproduction methods such as "filtering unnecessary information","seizing the main idea","deducting and predicting" and "switching the interpretation methods". The author hopes that this report could help him improve his ability of logical analysis and offer constructive help for those people who aspire to be interpreters in the future.
