Text reading is a combination of people's own experience to interpret the text and build a unique model in the mind,and internalized into their own cognitive structure.In this process,people specifically on the text is how to characterize,construct meaning,it is a question that worth exploring and numerous psychologists have studied this.The mechanism of the background information is mainly expressed by the reader to activate the background information in the long-term memory when reading the text and integrate with the current information to form a coherent textual representation.Therefore,the study of the accessing mechanism of background information is the basic problem on text reading,other aspects should be based on the correct disclosure of this process.In summary,this study first summarizes and combs the meaning,development profile and the theoretical research,process,influencing factors and research paradigm of text reading,and analyzes the reasons why the theoretical research is divided.Text reading will be influenced by many factors,not only the nature of the text,the reader reading strategy,the purpose of reading will also affect the formation of textual representation,the differences between the various theoretical factions are likely to be affected by these factors.The bi-processing theory of text reading distinguishes between different applicable conditions and integrates traditional theories.Based on the theory of double reading of text reading,this paper designs two different texts of coherence and focus.It is proposed to use behavioral experiment and he paradigm of Independence-Remember-Know the paradigm,and to study the background of long-term memory by reading through two experimental studies Information access mechanism.The research 1 explores the process of background information when reading text with coherent and focal information?It consists of three sub-experiments.The experiment 1a explores whether there is an activation and integration phase in the background information processing in coherent reading.Using two-factors within subjects design,the recognition reaction time which two conditions under the target sentence before and after the probe word will be recorded.The experimental results are analyzed in the same way as in the case of consistency and recovery.The experiment 1b,1c also explores whether there is an activation and integration phase in the background information processing in focal reading.Using two-factors within subjects design,the recognition reaction time which two conditions under the target sentence before and after the probe word will be recorded.The experimental results are analyzed in the same way as in the case of consistency and recovery.The research 2 explores the level of text representation and awareness of background information processing in coherent reading and focus reading.It consists of two sub-experiments,which are based on single factor subjects.In experiment 2a,we discuss the continuous reading In this experiment,the results are analyzed by calculating the ratio of the subjects to the "recollection" or "know".The experiment 2b discusses the fact that,in the case of independent remembering a known paradigm In the experiment,the results are analyzed by calculating the proportion of the subjects who judge the "remember" or "know" the recognition item.The experimental results show that :1.coherent reading is an automatic,non-strategic process,and the relevant background information in the long-term memory when reading the current information is activated,but the activation is automatic and the reader is integrated when the local coherence is interrupted,in order to maintain the overall coherence.2.And the focus of reading is a positive,strategic process,reading information will be immediately activated and updated to form a new psychological representation,reading the current information will activate the work of memory information,long-term memory of the information due to being updated,not be activated instantly.3.The experimental results show that the background information of the coherent reading and the construction of the contextual model is a kind of unconscious processing.4.The background information of the focus reading is a kind of unconscious processing.The construction of the situational model is a kind of conscious processing.In conclusion,this paper reveals the access mechanism of background information in text reading through systematic experimental research,which shows that there is a difference between the reader and the processing of the focus text in the process of text reading because of the different nature of the text.The results of this study are beneficial to reveal the essence of text reading,deepen the research of text reading processing,and further support the bi-processing theory of text reading.
