Text reading is one of the most complex and unique cognitive activities of human people and is also an important way for us to get information. Comprehension and processes of information in text reading has been a hot point in experimental psychology for a long time.In this study, we first reviewed the origin of researches on text reading and its development both in western countries and in China. We also brought out our own opinion on the development of text reading and its future prospect. Then, we analyzed the-disagreement about information integration of text reading in detail based on the previous researches of information integration and proposed the concept of coordinating integration according to the dual-processing theories. At last, we conducted experiments from four aspects, including eight series of experiments and eighteen sub-experiments to detailedly discuss the essence, course and internal mechanism of coordinating integration and factors influencing it in text reading. For the first aspect, we discussed the essence of coordinating integration in text reading by two series of experiments which including eight sub-experiments. In Experiment 1a, 1b, 1c and 1d, we investigated the essence of coordinating integration in long-term memory. In 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d, the essence of coordinating integration in working memory was discussed. The results showed that information in long-term memory or working memory integrated with current information coordinately if they were partly inconsistent or incoordinate.
