The Study On The Comparison Between Chinese Characters' Calligraphy And Foreign Alphabetical Handwriting

Tracing the beginning of keeping records back to the appreciation for aesthetics of Chinese calligraphy,Chinese characters along with Chinese historical culture has gone through for more than 5000 years.Why can Chinese characters be used continuously even through the long time of evolution ? Why can Chinese characters integrate its application with aesthetics ? Why can Chinese characters be praised as a unique art while foreign alphabetical handwriting not ? The appeal of Chinese calligraphy draws attention of western and eastern experts,they persist in the study,exploration and pursuit of it.There is no doubt that we should not deny the contribution of Chinese alphabet towards Chinese characters.But I also wonder that,will this contribution have negative effect on the our Chinese characters ? We could read and pursue the connotation of ancient Chinese characters from the heritage over the past dynasties,but nowadays,our alphabetic writing is typed with a sense of chilling,rigid and lack of humanity.The disappearance of ancient Egypt writing is attributed to the simplification in order to convenience.How can we follow the tracks of an overthrown chariot ? The charm of Chinese calligraphy has stood out from our modern handwriting.Some people assume that writing brush is equal to Chinese calligraphy,while things change.The Chinese calligraphy is rather an expression and a way of aesthetic delivery than a writing brush.As a western saying goes,“There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes”,same as our Chinese calligraphy.Even the same word,different people who write Chinese calligraphy will bring out different feelings,along with different understanding.Only we harbor a sense of respect upon the Chinese calligraphy,we could enjoy the gorgeous world of Chinese calligraphy.Our nation currently advocate writing Chinese calligraphy and traditional culture,which benefit a lot.Chinese calligraphy,as a precious heritage from our forefathers,should be acknowledged,studied and preserved with our wholehearted awe.Besides,we should hand it down to next generations.This paper makes a comparison between Chinese characters,English alphabets and Japanese characters,referred to their own origin,evolution,development and characteristics.These three different characters have something in common but also have their own path.The Chinese calligraphy is a necessity of knowledge of Chinese culture.The reason why other handwriting become a art is the collaboration of the Chinese calligraphy and the Chinese characters.Chinese characters acts as a solid supporter for Chinese calligraphy,and in turn,Chinese calligraphy adds some spices to Chinese characters.Chinese calligraphy has its own unique beauty without any comparability in the long development span of Chinese history,culture and arts,most mainly,the inheritance of Chinese calligraphy.
